Pelfrey receives Appalachian College Association Scholarship for summer research project

Kayla Pelfrey ’14 has received a Colonel Lee B. Ledford Scholarship for summer research in Sewanee from the Appalachian College Association.  Her stipend will support the project “Immediate and Long-Term Effects of Early Adolescent Methamphetamine Exposure on Behavior and Cognition in Mice,” supervised by professor Jessica Siegel.

In pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in psychology, Kayla has taken courses in organic chemistry, cell and molecular biology, and microbiology in addition to Research Methods and Data Analysis (Psyc 251) and Introduction to Behavioral Neuroscience (Psyc 254).  She is currently enrolled in Advanced Behavioral Neuroscience (Psyc 359) and the Child, Family, and Community Development in Rural Appalachia seminar (Psyc 430).  Kayla is from Soddy Daisy, TN.
