Newly Appointed Faculty Member Receives Early Career Achievement Award

April 27, 2014

Jordan D. Troisi, who will be a new assistant professor at Sewanee starting in the 2014-2015 academic year, has been named one of the recipients of the 2014 American Psychological Association (APA) Early Career Achievement Award.  The award recognizes astute leadership and contributions to the field of psychology among individuals recently awarded their doctorate.

The award will support Dr. Troisi’s travel to the APA Convention in August 2014 in Washington, DC.  As an active member of APA Division 2 (The Society for the Teaching of Psychology), as well as the Co-Chair of the Division 2 Early Career Psychologists Committee, Dr. Troisi will play a significant role in three presentations that blend topics related to teaching, research, and faculty development while at the Convention.  He will serve as

  • the Chair of the APA Division 2 symposium entitled “Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Across the Faculty Lifespan,”
  • the Co-Chair of the cross-divisional symposium entitled “Sell Yourself: Practical Tips for Negotiating the Salary You Deserve” (with APA Division 17: The Society of Counseling Psychology), and
  • the lead author on a research poster entitled “The Impact of Mentorship on the Teaching and Professional Development of Early Career Psychologists.”
